Along the Stuart Highway - Alice Springs to Darwin

Northern Territory

April 26 - 28, 2003

After visiting Uluru and returning to Alice Springs, it was time for me to head north up the Stuart Highway, through the Outback to Darwin, a distance of nearly 1500 km.  It's a long, lonely stretch of road with not a whole lot to see, but fascinating nonetheless to experience such wide open space.  Once again, I set out with Adventure Tours.  On the 3-day, 2-night journey we checked out the towns of Daly Waters and Katherine, visited an old gold mine at Tennant Creek, went canoeing in the Katherine Gorge, and camped out under the stars, including one night on a ranch with wallabies and emus.
